RELIGION IS VARIOUSLY DESCRIBED AS BEING A WAY OF LIFE OR A DEVOTION TO SOMETHING, WHICH COULD BE ANYTHING A PERSON IS FANATICAL ABOUT. How Is It Possible For A Religion To Be Hypocritical Of Itself? For something to be hypocritical the action requires an actor, but religion is not an actor but a classification of behavior.

There is a problem with this question because religion of itself is not hypocritical and cannot be so. To be hypocritical one has to profess beliefs or claim virtues that one does not possess. A religion cannot do this because it is an inanimate construct and does not possess the capacity to make decisions or assertions.

Religion is variously described as being a way of life or a devotion to something; which could be anything a person is fanatical about—sport, hobbies, fetishes, etc.

True religion is the quest for the ideal life that incorporates three phases: the ideal, the means for attaining the ideal and the worldview that relates the quest to the surrounding environs.

Any person professing to have found the ideal life and asserts to be authentically living that ideal, when this is not the case is a hypocrite. However, this does not make the ideal hypocritical. This simply means that the person is just another huckster trying to hoodwink anyone foolish enough to accept the claims as true.

So what is the ideal life? Anything less than eternal life is not the ideal.

Now anyone who claims that they possess eternal life and cannot demonstrate that in their actions has to be a hypocrite. Essentially, this means that if a person is not willing to die now, if need be, then that person has not got eternal life. For if a person has eternal life, death would have no fear for that person, nor would it have any hold over him.

I have the assurance of eternal life within me. In numerous situations that I have found myself, I have been prepared to die, but, amazingly, events turned around in my favor, and instead of meeting my maker, I have had to wait even longer for that glorious day. Yet I know there are many people who make the same claim as I do about eternal life, but they do not have the same conviction as myself.

When it comes to a declaration of what is the most hypocritical religion, since there is only one true religion, and religion is not a person, I would have say that there is none—the proviso being that nobody is called “Religion”.
