But to suggest that people giving 10% of their income to a Church as some kind of polite scam is stretching one’s imagination because a tithe is a voluntary offering whereas taxation which is more than 10% is a compulsory take to pay the wage, the perks and lurks of politicians.

Evidently, according to the Bible, the tithe was something Abraham did when He met Melchizedek. The tithe is a tenth.

After Abraham tithed the tenth, the Bible records that Jacob made a vow to tithe to God.

From what is written in the Bible, the tithe does not appear to be a scam. Rather it is something that helps sort out the genuine from those who are not genuine; those who desire to return to God from those who play games.
