THAT JESUS WOULD REJOICE IN THE FACT THE WISE AND UNDERSTANDING WOULD BE BEREFT OF THE TRUTH IS A MYSTERY. Surely The Son Would Want To Have Everybody Understand The Truth, But Maybe Not Hypocrites. Many things seem strange when reading the Bible, but hypocrites not understanding the truth really has to do with them and not God, for once a course is taken and the way of no return has been reached, that is each one's own decision.
At that time Jesus declared, “I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.”
Indeed, those who think they are wise and understanding follow the ways of the world. There is nothing worse than the supercilious, who think they are better than other people, because they do not excrete putrid stools of defecation. Nevertheless, these people employ a stool groom because the mere thought of having to touch what comes out of within is mortifying. Just seeing sycophants grovelling to their masters, because they believe that these individuals are possessed of superior genes, would be hilarious, if the act was not so pathetic and unbecoming of a human being who possesses more worth than being merely born to die. This form of idolatry demeans humans. Sycophancy is a form of idolatry. Yet the wise and understanding of this world see sycophancy as the means by which they can maneuver to position themselves for political and financial advantage. However, in doing this, and being deceptive, they exclude themselves from the Kingdom of God, which is reserved for the humble, honest and generous, who acknowledge the truth that human beings are mere mortals that are born to die.
Those who pride themselves in being worldly-wise actually deceive themselves as they manipulate others for their own advantage. Those who recognize that the ways of the world are evil and hate harming other people, start to realize that surely concepts of justice, mercy, faith and love exist, even if not within the affairs of men. Instead of justice, mercy, faith and love, the affairs of men are rife with corruption and greed.
As someone who has always felt empathy for the underdog and grown up to hate injustice, I find what Jesus said concerning the wise and understanding very heartening. There is hope for everybody, even the evil, who come to their senses and realize that nobody asked to be born, only to suffer, and then die. Surely, if we can conceive of justice, mercy, faith, righteousness and eternity, there has to be more to existence than what we experience on Earth.
Why does God reveal the truth to babes? Because they have a pure heart—only the pure in heart can understand the truths of God. You must be born from above to receive a pure heart and become a babe, a second time. Every Jew should understand this, but unfortunately, as Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Are you a teacher of God’s people and yet you do not understand this?” (John 3:1–10). If the teachers do not understand, what hope have their students.
The Will Of The Father Is To Reveal The Truths Of Existence To Those Who Are Babes
