Actually, all who worry suffer the punishment of worrying. Those who do not worry, are free to think about other things and do more with their lives, because they are not in bondage to worry.
Why worry about something when answers are available and all one has to do is go and find the required answer.
People worry because they do not want to know the truth. The truth sets us free. Therefore, while worrying itself may not be a sin, it can be the result of sin—a fruit of sin.
Sin has been defined by the Ten Commandments. If we do not know the Ten Commandments and what they cover, then we may have cause to worry, because we could be committing spiritual crimes of which we are not aware and these are going to catch up with us eventually. The Bible does not say that we need to repent of our dead works (our sins) for no reason.
Cancer is associated with worrying. People who worry are more inclined to develop cancers than those who do not worry. Psychiatrists have demonstrated how cancer tumors can go into remission and cease to exist merely by teaching anxious people to meditate and relax rather than worrying about matters.
When people worry they release catecholamines and cortisols that put the body into stress mode and these hormones provide the environment for cancers to grow. On the other hand, when people are relaxed and enjoy positive thoughts, endorphins are produced that assist the body’s metabolism.
- A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.(Proverbs 17:22)
- Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. (Matthew 5:25)
- For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14–15)
If you are worrying though, maybe a check up (from more than the neck up) could be in order.
