Happy Riches, answer requested by anonymous
People have many beliefs. There are numerous people who sustain a belief in scientism and the theory of evolution, contrary to the evidence that is found in the geological and archaeological record—which they do not want to acknowledge and ignore, preferring selective facts to support their theory. Numerous atheists decry the Bible based upon the what they believe are myths. Many even have a belief that aliens exist.
A belief is what, exactly? Some like to think a belief is wishful thinking. Others would say a belief is the acceptance of a given idea to be a fact—i.e. true.
We could even say that certain persons have a belief it is possible to type and write and answer questions posed on Quora.
A belief then is the recognition and acceptance by an individual that an idea exists and could actually be true—instead of being fake news.
Amazingly, people claim they are intelligent, yet demonstrate their ignorance because of their belief that it is not true that the Exodus, as described in the Bible, occurred. Without investigating the evidence that exists, the ignorant ridicule the fact that the Hebrews left Egypt, crossed the Red Sea and went to a mountain in (present day) Saudi Arabia, where the Creator God, who had delivered the people from the hand of slavery, gave the man Moses, Ten Commandments written by His own Finger on two tablets.
Not only do these people, who claim they are logical in their approach to seeking the truth, reject information that they have not yet demonstrated false, because they do not want to accept anything that is contrary to their belief.
Only an insane person would say that futility is meaningful. In which case, what is the meaningfulness of being born only to experience suffering in this world before one dies.
After contemplating Hinduism, and noticing what occurred to people after they were born into this world, Buddha come to the conclusion that the only meaning for existence was to escape suffering. Many people, who espouse scientism, delight in Buddhism, because they see this as rational and supports the concept of materialism and evolution—being birthed from nothing to go through a series of reincarnations as part of the transmigration to return to nothing.
Logic says that there has to be a Creator. Logic says that if people are born to suffer and then die, this is meaningless and a useless existence for the individual. Logic says that since I conceive of eternity and the idea of possessing immortality then this must be a possibility.
Insanity says that I have a fantastic purpose and a meaningful life because I read numerous books about history that cannot be proven one way or the other to be true, therefore based on what I have read God does not exist.
Logic says that people can do many things in their lives, but relationships are what cause us emotional pain.
Insanity says that just because there is physical evidence of the Exodus actually available, and even indisputable proof of a structure that fits the dimensions describing Noah’s Ark in the book of Genesis, the Bible is a myth and the Ten Commandments have been superseded.
Logic says that wherever I look I see people violating the requirements of the Ten Commandments, but if people did not violate them, there would be peace on Earth.
Insanity says that God does exist and the Ten Commandments have no bearing on relationships today. Science is proving that humans are becoming smarter, more intelligent and it is not vanity to be obsessed with one’s IQ—this may be not the case if IQ refers to ignorance quotient?
Logic asks the question: Why is it that people are supposedly more educated today than what they were around 1500 BCE, yet nobody is able to not violate the commandments that deal with human interaction at every point— let alone those that refer to the Creator.
Insanity says, I have a different belief. I can do what I want. I am a good person. I am righteous person who has never committed sin. I have never borne false witness in my life. Being born to die and feel personally hurt emotionally is a meaningful existence. Thoughts are chemicals/particles. Emotions are chemicals/particles. Words are chemicals/particles—once we find that god particle, we will prove it.
Logic says, I did not ask to be born. There is an order to creation. Day and night and the seasons are predictable. People suffer. I suffer. People die. I will die. Surely there has to be a purpose to existence on this planet beyond being born to die, only to observe and experience suffering and grief. In which case, I will call out to the Creator that He might respond to me.
And he made from one every nation of men to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after him and find him. Yet he is not far from each one of us, for‘In him we live and move and have our being’ (Acts 17:26-28)
Insanity says that to seek God and feel after Him is foolishness. I will go and read another book written by a person who does not have any answer to overcoming death and develop a belief in humanism.
Wisdom says, I will not trust another person until I have found out the truth for myself whether God exists and I can know Him personally, by entering into a relationship that is enduring.
