This question highlights a issue for those who claim that the Bible is a fiction. But for anyone who truly desires to understand coded information, it helps knowing the author. The amazing phenomenon is when it comes to understanding the truths of the Bible, unless you have sufficient foundation knowledge, you will not grasp the significance of the truths; thereby they are quickly forgotten.
Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light. Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him Peter answered, and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.” (Matthew 16:28-17:5)
The wisdom of the wise in the ways of this world is to scoff at the thought that the disciples were going to see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom before they died. These people belong to this world and they are surreptitiously controlled by the power of the Prince of the World, even though they think they are free to do their own thing.
The Bible helps us understand what was really meant when Jesus said to His disciples that some in his presence would in a few days see the Kingdom of God. The Apostle Peter explains what the event means in his writings.
For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth. I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you; knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:9-21)
Jesus is coming back very soon. Those of us who understand what is written in the Bible can tell you that the current events that are occurring in the world are evidence of this. But unless you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you will not understand the truth, because you will say anything and believe anything. If this is you, the main reason for your flip-flopping is you have no assurance of eternal life.
