To search for Jesus, means exactly what is stated, and what a person would do, who was searching for anyone they were seeking to find. Of course, much depends on how eager or earnest or desperate the searcher seeking to find Jesus happens to be. If the searcher is just casually looking, then like a window shopper the person will saunter down the road carelessly and carefree, not really giving a second thought to the price required to purchase what is on offer. Well not until the window shopper suddenly stumbles upon something that is recognized as being more valuable than what it would cost to purchase. The casual attitude takes on a new dimension and the person casts it aside to become an eager buyer.
- The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. (Matthew 13:44)
- Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it. (Matthew 13:45-46)
- But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach); because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame. (Romans 10:8-11)
