History is a mixed bag, and even more so the further we go back in time. Even when it comes to more modern history, apart from the fact that certain people lived and died and certain events happened, which appear indisputable, there are still questions that can be raised as to the truth of a matter. The victor’s version may not be what the victims might say, if they had lived to tell their side of the story. But beyond this, there is the matter of fabricated history, confected from various facts purported to be true at the time—what is becoming known as fake news from supposedly reliable sources is evidence of this today.
For instance, people reading what papers print about Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, August 12, 2017, read distorted reports. Instead of reading that protesters were given a permit to peacefully assemble and counter-protesters came armed to cause a disturbance, the so-called authoritative mainstream media were claiming that white racist groups were killing people. They gave the impression that they were quoting independent eye-witnesses. But there is no way of verifying this for the average person. Who was responsible for the violence in Charlottesville? (Here's what witnesses said.) However, the mainstream media (MSM) were not telling us the truth with their stories. (Unite the Right, the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, explained.) What you are not told by the MSM is that the rally had been organized by a former Obama operative for the Occupy Movement; the Mayor had ordered the police to stand down after ensuring that their might be a clash between the hooded ANTIFA thugs and those who came for a peaceful rally; that this had been a set up with plants on either side to facilitate a deeper racial divide— and the fact political activists had been paid $25hr.[1] Furthermore there was the claim that a silver dodge charger was responsible for killing one person and injuring nineteen people. However, the dark reddish brown vehicle that plowed into people at an intersection was not mentioned as causing injury in the same breath, even though the video tells a different story.[2]
Now if such distortions of truth exist today, how can you have accurate resources to study the history of Christianity?
As far as the Bible is concerned, by following the route described in Exodus to the letter, Ron White, discovered the Red Sea Crossing, an engraved pillar erected by King Solomon declaring that this is where the crossing took place, the springs of Elim, the true Mount Sinai, where archaeological evidence exists that verifies the Hebrews had been there. Other people have verified these facts and more. Similarly, when it comes to Noah’s Ark. The Bible states that the Ark came to rest—not on Mount Ararat, but—on the mountains of Ararat. The Ark has been found as stated in the Bible some miles away from Mount Ararat, but still on the mountains of Ararat.[3]
Look and you shall find—but understand what these finds mean for all the naysayers, who are in positions of power, and who cannot afford to let people know the truth, otherwise, they have to repent of their evil and their ignorance.
The Bible is the most authoritative book when it comes to what it states. However, when it comes to the history of Christendom, consider what you read as a loose rule of thumb.
The book The_Two_Babylons (Alexander_By Hislop --pdf) provides a different perspective to Christian history than the historical narrative you may read written by those who write from the position of the jaundiced view of a scoffer. Moreover, Hislop’s The_Two_Babylons also provides a much different historical perspective of events than those who write from the view of the propagandist promoting the orthodox narrative.
In the final rub, what really matters is where you stand in relation to the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and the Judge of the every human being at death. History is a record of the failures of humankind attempting to achieve righteousness and peace on Earth.
