THE MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION WAS ETCHED INTO THE MINDS OF THOSE WHO SAW JESUS TRANSFORMED BEFORE THEIR VERY EYES, AS HE SPOKE WITH MOSES AND ELIJAH. Not Only Were The Minds Of Peter, John and James Affected As Witnesses Of The Event, But Many Who Read The Account In The Gospels Of Mark, Matthew And Luke Are Also Affected. Having a body that shines like the sun and the ability to transcend death may seem impossible, but not if we do not doubt—but there is the problem, that doubt.

Most people would probably state that this is an impossible happening for you to experience. However, this depends upon whether you have sufficient faith, on the one hand, and on the other, whether this is the will of God for you.

All things are possible for those who believe, but as Jesus has said, God needs to be involved. When finally said and done, even though anything is possible, there is the matter of His will.
  • And Jesus said to him, “If you can! All things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
  • Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)
  • And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what thou wilt.” (Mark 14:36)
To say that a thing cannot occur because it is not the will of God, can be construed as a cop out, or “a get out of jail” clause. The idea that people can speak to a mountain and command for it to be thrown into the sea is not taken literally by most people, because nobody has been seen doing this.
  • Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be taken up and cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. (Mark 11:23)
However, the context suggests that Jesus actually meant that a mountain could be literally taken up and cast into the sea. The issue that needs to be addressed is unbelief and doubt. Just a seed of doubt is sufficient to prevent, what one would like to believe could happen, actually occurring.
Doubt is said to be the essence of thought. Rene Descarte is quoted as having declared: “I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am.” The idea becomes that if one does not doubt, one does not think. Yet it is possible to think without doubting.
Positive thought merely follows the consequences of ideas. Doubt, however, creates an uncertainty about one’s own abilities and ultimately oneself. Doubting is not necessary for thinking. A person, who reasons soundly, has no need to doubt. Doubt only occurs when one leaves the path of sound thinking and becomes lost in one’s own thoughts.
However, when it comes to the transfiguration of which you speak, it is worth noting what Jesus said:
  • Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. (Matthew 16:28)
The Apostle Peter later on went to say concerning this event:
  • For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we heard this voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. (2 Peter 1:16–18)
In the light of our short consideration of faith and all things being possible in relation to the will of God, what occurred at the Mount of Transfiguration appears to have been a one off event to demonstrate to those present that this concerns the return of Lord Jesus Christ. In which case, if you are one of those who are raised from the dead or are alive at the coming of Lord Jesus Christ, who is a genuine Christian, you will be possess a glorified body—to what degree your face will shine, might be another matter though.
  • And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12:3)
  • For not all flesh is alike, but there is one kind for men, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. There are celestial bodies and there are terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. (1 Corinthians 15:39-42)
The degree of brightness that your face will shine will depend on what you do while you are on Earth. This, though, will not happen before the time that it is has been determined.
