The one thing you can be 100% sure is that the Bible is based on truth. Now those who love to call people fools because of this claim, the Bible states that they are fools themselves, because they are opinionated and do not acknowledge the truth: death means the end of a futile life, providing there is no judgment or everlasting punishment; whereas a meaningful and purposeful life never ends, even if the temporal existence in biological form ceases.
When asking about biblical perspectives and suggesting that other evaluations of life are prohibited by the what is written therein, this can be open to a number of possibilities.
Is the person asking the question really wanting to know truth? What if the person is open to discussing various views, if this is so, would this be the question that would be asked? Is the person being disingenuous? If the person were shown the truth, would that person turn into a scoffer? This person really wants to know what God means when stating that we ought to reason with Him about our circumstances.
An honest reading of the Bible’s contents leaves not doubt that its pages are filled with text that speak mostly about relationships: the relationships of humans with God and with each other. This being the case, the Bible seems to have a limiting perspective, but one that could be open to discussing the many aspects of relationship.
When you think about perspectives, which are the views that we each have of the world in that we live, and what we think of the various relationships we might have with the different entities within the surrounding environment that we call our world, you have to acknowledge that there are differing perspectives. Not everybody has the same experiences and not everybody speaks the same language. This is the case, even for those who may purportedly speak the same language (e.g. English or Chinese), though they speak dialects or use words that have different meaning or a superior vocabulary. Yet, when we get down to the basics, we realize that food, water, shelter, safety and sex are the critical elements that are essential to each one physiological and psychological health.
When it comes to the truth, we are on target when we realize that we are individuals who are born to die, and instead of knowing joy everyday of our lives, we know suffering—some more than others. The woman who is documented to have lived longer than anyone else in the current age, was the Kazakhstan Muslim, Koku Istambulova, born in 1879. She is no longer alive;[1]but as she neared her 130th birthday, the UK Sun screamed with headlines: “World’s ‘oldest and most miserable’ human, 129, curses Allah for letting her live so long”.
- Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. (Isaiah 1:18).
The reality is death has the final say. Whether we have a miserable existence in this temporal life depends upon our relationship with the Creator of Heaven and Earth. If we know the Creator, we love Him. If we do not know Him, we will have a different perspective to what the Bible says that we would have if we were to come and reason with Him. The options are limited, so I suppose the differing perspectives will probably be limited, as they will all end in death.
